As part of the Strategic Development team within Retail Development, this team is responsible for setting Asda's new space strategy, and applying location analysis to deliver sales forecasts for specific new store proposals - both food stores & Livings. This involves a combination of in-house data systems, consideration of supply and demand factors, and field knowledge of stores and markets. The role involves 1-2 days a week on site visits, and the team interacts with a diverse customer group across the business, including Property Acquisitions, Business Change, the Supermarkets team, and the Living team. The role of the team is to provide strategic direction for ASDA's cap-ex programme to ensure ASDA develops the right stores in the right locations to achieve optimal national coverage. |
| Responsibilities: |
• Undertake market assessments and sales forecasts for new store opportunities. This involves conducting store and competitor visits, creating an analysis framework, and assessing market and site factors.
• Use in-house GIS systems to understand the market and customers producing data relating to demographics, stores, & market share.
• Provide support for ASDA & Wal-Mart Real Estate Board submissions inc. presentations to Exec members.
• Participate in strategic reviews to direct ASDA's new space development.
• Obtain Retail Operations support for specific project forecasts.
• Undertake ad hoc strategic projects (inc. Acquisition work).
